Paranoid 6.2 Muff Question

Not sure where to post this, Im new here so hello to everyone that reads this.

I put a Magnaflow #12909 muff (3.5" in and out) on my 11' 6.2 Silverado the other day... and first off, it doesn't line up perfectly because of the offsets, so inorder to make it fit perfectly, they had to cut about a 12" section off roughly infront of the intake side of the muffler and replace it with a 3" piece of pipe (No one around me can bend 3.5" pipe). The factory piping is 3.5". Will this smaller section reduce any power or torque overall? Thanks.

I have been told that the factory exhaust on these newer trucks is very good. You must have been looking for a different sound, because I doubt you will gain any mileage or power, especially with the 3" restriction you added.

I did it for sound. It sounds better than stock but I think I gained a lilttle more low wnd torque because I don't evene have to press the pedal down much to spin the tires (3:42) gears. I was just wondering If I was going to lose any hp because of the slight restriction. Need to dyno and tune it. Thanks.

If you reduced the size of the exhaust at any point, then your exhaust will only be the size of the reduction from that point back, aka bottleneck.

 

This is the precise reason why I have NOT changed the factory exhaust on my 6.2. I love the sound of Corsa but I refuse to put a smaller pipe on my truck "just for sound"

 

If it was me, if you cant find anyone to bend the bigger pipe, just leave it stock. Go hit up a diesel shop, I am sure they can probably bend up some really big pipe.

Ok, I found someone that has 3.5" pieces already bent, so that will replace the smaller diam pipe. The stock system is good, just doesn't sound loud enough. With the magnaflow, it sounds like a camaro now.

Ok, I got it all fixed now. Magnaflow is breaking in better and better. Part #12909 if anyone is interested.
