What's With The Tiny Oil Filter?

Changed my oil today and advanced auto had a special on valvoline full synthetic with a bosch distance plus filter, I usually would go for these kind of deals since I use ac delcos but being low on cash this month the deal was too good to pass, so has anyone used these before? Never payed attention to these till today and were new to me but one thing I did notice was when the filter was on and I. Put the new oil in I checked for leaks, not ever expecting any, and saw the filter was infact leaking, I. Snugged the filter up a little more and wiped the filter off and waited 5 min before I started the truck, so far its not leaking but I will check once more in the morning.

Seen that all too many times with cheap filters (i.e. Fram) and personally, I wouldn't trust it to NOT leak. Sounds like the seal is too hard.

 

 

I took the filter and compared it to a new ac delco and they are almost identical but who knows if the filter inside is a cheap POS. But I think the filter was actually pricey for what it is. May not be worth the price and I checked this morning to see if it was leaking and I couldn't find anything, but I will continue to check to make sure.
