Kicking myself

I was up in the town north of me yesterday and saw my old '79 Blazer.  I only had it for 3 months before selling it.  It was 3 tone, brown, white and rust.  Had the 305 under the hood and 104K on it.  I picked it up from a guy in a trade for my totalled '84 CJ-7 but it was so ugly, I sold it as soon as I found a buyer.  Advertised it as a ranch or yard truck, because I couldn't find anyone to tell me it'd be worth fixing it up.  A few dents and the wheel wells and rocker panels were rusted through the sheet metal, and the fiberglass top was near bare.

Well the guy who bought it (he wore fuzzy pack boots, obviously Aspen rich guy) had popped the top and tailgate off, cut the wells darn near completely out, put on about 38 inch swampers with maybe a body lift (couldn't tell), added a light bar with 6 KC lights, 2 aftermarket seats, a winch and hi lift jack on a old/new bumper, with a new spare tire rack in the bed and a new chrome exhaust tip and probably a new exhaust.  Now it was still brown and white, shudder, but it was parked in front of the paint and body shop, so maybe he's changing that too.

I could tell it was my old one by a crimp in the hood where it bent when it got hung trying to close it.  He had taken that heap and is turning it into a great Moab rig, the same thing I'd considered but passed on.  It was actually a very smooth driver, but looked beyond salvaging.  Oh well, no use crying over a rusted out Blazer, but it sure looks like a fun 4x4 now.........
