Relays Backwards

I was going to hook up my fog lights so that they would come on with the high beams and when I got to looking, the relays are all in backwards. I put the high beam and fog light ones in correct according to the fuse box cover and the truck wouldn't start. turned them back 180 deg and the truck started. Do all the relays have to be in the same way or what? Truck is a 01 HD.
