Tire Choices And Tire Weight

Last minute decision before I pull the trigger on my 2" level...tires!

I wanted to get the Nitto Terra Grappler in a 285/70/17, but I see they are heavier than most A/T tires at 62 lbs each. Does anybody have any recommendations for a lighter 285/70/17? I wanted to stay away from the BFG A/T, and have recently been considering the Cooper Discoverer AT3.

Currently running a 5.3 liter, with 3.73s, and a K&N filter kit. Planning on getting the BB tune soon. With all of these options and the tune, am I worrying about tire weight too much?

(If it's not obvious, I'm taking fuel mileage into consideration)

Your 305/50r20 weighs 54 lbs.

I decided to go with the Cooper Zeon LTZ as well, the 285/70/17 weighs in at 52 lbs each. Lighter than the Terra Grappler by 10 lbs. and only ~12 lbs. heavier than the stock Goodyear AT/S. Sounds good to me, as I was also going by the popular thought that for every 100 lbs of extra weight, it feels as thought you've lost 10 hp, I was trying to avoid that!

You'll like the Zeons, they are a nice tire. I got 50,000 miles out of my last set and could have gone easily another 5,000 I think. I really struggled with 275/55r20's in the Zeon LTZ or go with a wider the wider Discoverer H/T Plus 305/50r20's. Obviously the wider tire won.

I figured they would be a little better for mileage, since they weren't as aggressive tread pattern as the Zeons.
