4WD Problem?

I was in a parking lot this weekend and I decided to put my truck in 4HI just to get the parts moving around and I noticed that whenever I made sharp turns I would have a really hard time moving. It just felt like my truck was stuck or something but when I would straighten out there was no problems. My tires would squeal and I would really have to gas it if I wanted to turn sharply. Is this normal or has anyone else had this problem? I am new to fullsize truck 4WD. Thanks!

Welcome aboard. Your 4wd is working exactly as it should. You need to try to avoid sharp turns even in snow. Its the nature of the beast. If you have Auto 4wd it works quite well for variable road conditions without the huge binding problem. Save true 4wd for the deep sticky stuff.

ah, made a big no no. I did some additional research and learned about binding. Sorry, im tired and didnt think about doing other research first. Dont use 4WD on hard surfaces while turning!! My bad

Its all good. That's why were here. I also learned the hard way on my '76 3 speed manual years ago. That was a pain in the rump!
