Bed rail protectors

I am going to get a spray on bedliner and was wondering if I should bother with bed rail protectors. Pros? Cons?

I don't see too many cons w/ protecting the bedrail seeing as how it's easily scratched from moving stuff over it constantly.

Have you considered just getting the spray in liner sprayed over the rail???  That's what I had done for my truck, it was roughly the same price as bedrail caps.

my bedrail caps have come in quite handy

Qibbs, not sure what you have for a truck but if it is a newer body style you really should put bedrail protectors on. I found out the hard way that if you do any work with the truck the rails are the first top show it. I had dents in the top of my bedrails even before I put anything in the bed, just from kneeling on them when I installed the racks and toolbox. GM has lightened the boxes so much to better the mileage it has made the rails paper thin. Dealer wound up giving me protectors because of some other issues with the truck. I have diamond plate to match the toolbox. Sorry for the long winded post.

I'd put these high on the list of things to get to protect the rails. The rails on one of my other trucks ended up getting scratched and I tried hard to keep things off of them. It only takes one oops to do that. I'll probably pick up a set of the GM protectors for my '02.

The GM bed rail protectors are the best I have seen...the rigid ones.

Tom has a set on his truck.

Here's mine:

I really like mine.

Those look great, where did you get them?  :thumb:

I have the GM set on my truck, nice product. A buddy

bought a pickup this Spring, had the Rhino liner sprayed in,

over the rail. Nice job, very nice. I'd go either way.

By the way it's a 2002 Dodge 1500 CC 4.7L. He's dumping

it since the fuel is killing him, 13.5 on a road trip?

Have a great one!

Thanks.  I got them from my dealer.

The P/N for a short bed truck is 12496453. Of course, long beds will have a different P/N.  PartZoneOnline.com has them for $103.04 before S&H.  They come with little snap in covers for the stake pocket holes, but if you were to lose one, you can order them seperately.  P/N 12484940 for stake pocket cover.

Unfortunately I didn't know about these online GM parts places, and I paid ALOT more than that, but I don't regret getting them, just would have been nice to get a better price.  :D

Oh yeah, they are held on by that 3m double sided tape.  Easy to install too.  Me and my 7 year old (at the time) son installed them.

I have a pair of diamond tread covers they work pretty good . Pretty scuffed up tgough but I'd rather have the protectors scuffed up than the truck .

I put these on with double sided tape although there was an option of putting them on with screws or bolts I didnt want to drill   :D
