If your gonna do it and go through getting all the wiring/computer, why not put in an 8.1..? the 2000 sivlerado 2500 i had a 454 and made less then 300 hp and less then 400ft of torque.. a bone stock 8100 will do 330 / 465

GMStrong, LSA is 115

yukon, I'm going with the 454 because I already had some of the parts and have gathered almost everything I need for less than $200. I'm not using the stock cam and I'm doing other small upgrades that will bring the numbers up a bit. The only reason I'm doing anything at all is because my 350 is starting to tick when its cold (I know it will run forever that way, but I hate that sound) and I'm not one to just replace the crank and bearings, I would want to do a full rebuild and cam and head upgrade since I would already have it out of the truck. I spent $100 on a longblock missing one piston and rod and an extra pair of heads, sold the extra heads for $150. $50 profit. Paid $80 for crank, rods, .030 pistons, and an unknown spec cam (not going to use) with 2000 miles on them. $30 down. Traded a Mallory dist pulled from a 350 that was given to me for the harness, computer, and injector rail. Paid $100 for the L29 intake with dist and injectors. Have the extra set of injectors up for sale. $130 down. 4L80E trans $50. $180 down. Once I sell the injectors, extra crank, extra pistons and rods, and two cams, I'll have made a profit. My only expenses will be machine work, bearings, rings, cam kit, gaskets, and getting the 4L80E rebuilt (its good but why put a used trans that you might have to pull back out?) And then I can sell my 350/4L60E with harness and computer and 10,000 miles on the 062 heads and injector spider and pretty much make it all back if not more. I would love an 8.1, and if anyone can find one for $200 that would be great, doubtful though.

Wasn't tryin to be an **** yukon, I know it sounded that way. Since you have experience with the Vortec big blocks I'd like some of your input on this if you can. Pics coming, getting the machine work done on the block next week. Didn't get around to disassembling it this week.
