Have just purchased an 03 s10 Zr2 with a AM/FM CD plalyer. Plays store bought cds no problem. Burned cds no. Son has same truck but GMC version. His has no problems.

I have burned onto a CD-RW in MP3, WAV, data, Audio with no luck.

What have i done wrong. Anyone help me out in this area? Not a computer geek so maybe did something incorrect. Work in the computer and other vehicles. Player bad?

Going nuts having just radio.

Thanks

If its a factory radio then it will not play them. Some burned disks have files that are compressed so you can actually select the different files and play what music is in there.

Try burning it AUDIO (no mp3 etc) on a CD-R not RW. I found the CD-RWs the least likely to work. My 98 Chev would play most burned CD-Rs. Of course they had to be standard audio CD format as it knew nothing about data CDs.

Yep, try a CD-R. If it still will not play a CD-R recorded in an audio disc format, then the laser has probably weakened to the point it is unable to pick up the correct track well enough. Good chance it will play a normal pressed CD for quite awhile longer. Try burning the CD-R at lower speeds (gives slightly to a a lot better definition to the edges of the pits and lands).

Also bear in mind that the typical CD-R or CD-RW makes the mechanism work harder because (at the least) the lens has to work harder to keep a good 'eye' signal coming from the laser-its a feedback thing.

Watch for variations in the dye at the edges of the disc as it may be a sign of a cheaper or poorly manufactured CD-R. You can also get poor media tight in the middle (or the top, the bottom, etc) of a pack of otherwise good media. Lay the CD on a very flat surface and see if you can detect any warpage. Hold the CD up to the light and look for pinholes. If the media is loud when spinning in your PC or laptop drive then try not to use it as the disc is warped or thicker in certain areas than others. It may still work but a disc that is noisey when in a data drive spinning at the much higher speeds than when playing an audio disc, WILL make your player mechanisms work harder!
