GMT800 Steering Box Question

I tried in a different section and didn't get an answer. Sorry for the double post but hoping for an answer here.

 

Just wondering, other then the actual spline count on the output shaft on the steering box, is there a mechanical difference between the 4 slot and 3 slot steering boxes? Can you install a 4 slot box in place of a 3 slot truck as long as you put the right pitman arm on it?

you didnt get an answer because no one has done it,

 

the obvious answer i have is if the you have both on a bench and look to see if EVERYTHING is the same,then yes,

 

and turn count of input shaft lock to lock may be different also
