Anyone Worries About Buying a NEW 2001?

I have been looking at a F250 superduty 4x4 with the 5.4 in it. Until recently I have not looked at the sticker. It is a NEW 2001. I talked to the salesman and have worked out a pretty good deal. When I drove it the truck didn't feel right, but began to get better the farther I drove it. I figured it was just the cold, but then thought it could be that it has sat for 2 years and that it could have an effect on it. The question is would you buy a NEW truck, for a good deal, that has sat for two years?

I'd rather pay a little more for a 2003, but if the deal was really good I dont guess I'd be able to pass it up. Pretty tough decision though ???

How many miles are on it?  Just wondering of it's been used a demo or a errand runner for the dealership.

 

I'd say take it out for another test drive but get onto the interstate and run it at highway speeds for about 20 minutes.  If the motor was just running hard from inactivity that should clear it up-if it still runs rough I'd steer clear.

I was looking on line last week and saw a 2001 Reg cab 8.1 l with auto brand new with less than 10 miles on it.  It was pretty plain looking with the steel wheels and white color.  The dealer had it priced down around $21,000.  If I wanted a reg cab I would jump all over this for a day in day out work truck.

Depends on what he is going to do with it.  Is he going to keep it for 10+ years or does he trade fairly often?  If he is going to keep it a long time the loss of two years in value will (or at least should) be more than made up by the deal he gets on it.  For example, there is not much difference, price-wise, between a 1990 K1500 and a 1992.  By that time it depends more on condition than year.  However, if he just keeps it a few years he will not really be advantageous because he will not get what it is really worth, just like the loss that the dealer is taking.

I just bought my first truck on the 23rd... It was a 2001 w/ less than 60 miles on the clock.. engine hour meter showed 5.2 hours (who knows how many are on it by the time the factory has tested and delivered it to the dealer) and I paid 19,250 inc. bed liner and toolbox. (add tax tag title to that) The specs are in my sig below. My only thought was engine oil gel so I'll change the oil by 500 miles and again at 2500 then as normally required. I'm thrilled tho since I was looking at spending 17k on a Tacoma and was able to buy a "REAL" truck for not too much more yet I got tons more for the $$. BTW I think about the 12 mpg but eh.. not that big of a deal for the benefit of power.
