2002 Silverado amp and sub suggestions

So I am a complete noob when it comes to vehicles and stereos, but I am fairly handy. I would like to put a single 10" or 12" sub in back of my truck in one of the custom fitted boxes, but I have no idea what I need. I need suggestions on an amp and sub and should I replace the factory head unit?

 

Also i want to replace the 4 factory speakers with some kind of upgrade, but I have no idea what would be best and what the power needs are. I have tried looking for packages but my searches have yielded no results :-(

 

any suggestions would be appreciated :-)

A local stereo shop can hook you up or at least get you started. I always deal with Crutchfield. They a great tech support and good prices on products.

 

I got my Alpine head unit and Infinitiy speakers from them. My 10" single sub and JL amp I got from a local stereo shop. For what it was going to cost me they were only $20 more than other places online and they also did the install.
