Body Lift

Know that I have my suspension lift all payed off I was thinking about adding another 3" with a body lift. What do you guys think about having a suspension and body lift combo is it worth it, and how would it look. Thanks.

Body lifts look fine, just make sure you raise the rear bumper to, I hate trucks that have that 3 in gap with their tailgate and bumper.  The bumper brackets are only like 30 bucks extra and makes a okay lift to a good one.

Go fer it!

Is this for show or go? Having done quite a bit of 4-wheeling with my current, and previous trucks, body lifts cuase more trouble than they are worth, and they don't give you any additional ground clearance, as the suspension is in the same place as before. My opinion, leave it alone.

I had a 94 GMC that I put a 4" suspension lift on and it looked and handled great on and off road.. I got in a wreck (totaled) then bought a 95 Silverado that already had a 4" suspension with  3" body lift (Only cause the tires rubbed a little)... and if I had my way (time and money) I would take the body lift off... Don't get me wrong it looks great and I have not taken it off road yet (if I really do) I just don't like the fact that with the body lift the dirt, rock and what not will get into unknown places.. (so I hear)

 It's up to you..

Have a body lift on mine.  No suspension lift yet but when I do get it it will probably be the 6" lift.  The stock truck looked to wimpy and was towered over by all those Fords and Dodges and mine is 4 wheel drive.  The body lift won't give you ground clearance unless you are going bigger tires and need the room.  I have the P.A. 3" body lift and the kit came with everything included, even to lift the bumpers.

Personally I like the body lift.  Didn't have any problems with it.  Actually made the truck look better.  Here in AZ I see a lot of truck with the body lift and a 6" lift.  Just one mans opinion.

Oh forgot, they also make lift lips for the 3" body lift to hide the gaps created between body and frame and is supposed to take care of that dirt getting into those places.

Only add it if you are having difficulty with tire rub and aren't willing to trim the sheet metal.

I have one and am satisfied.

Although re-locating the bumpers will LOOK better, they won't be as structurally sound.

If you have tow-hooks, you'll need to fiddle with them and their holes in your air dam.

If you have a bumper mounted hitch ball, it won't be safe for use anymore (not to mention that it'll also be higher than it used to).

You will need to fiddle with the spare tire winch access tube in order to drop your spare.  This is usually relocated to behind the license plate, which can be a hassle if you include your spare tire in your rotation.

Most importantly, for me, anyway, is that in the event that you touch something substantial with your bumpers, something will bend.  As high as you will be with a 6+3, most collisions not involving a wall, tree, or pole will cause your bumper to move UP as well as IN and towards the body.

Our trucks weigh a lot and the bumpers are NOT mounted on any sort of energy absorbing assembly - if you bump into something hard enough to feel it, you WILL bend either the bumper or the attaching bracket.  With the bumpers re-located so that they look nice and are again close to the body, in a collision or even just a misjudged backing error, you are much more likely to do body damage to your truck.

I left my bumpers in their stock locations.  I haven't been able to get a part number for the gap filler panels that GM uses on their new HDs, or even get a close look at them, but I'm hoping that they will work for the front on my truck without much modification.  For the rear, I'm not worried about the gap.  Maybe eventually I'll get a piece of material painted to match the truck and put it there.

Having been hit by other vehicles, I'm glad I left the bumpers low.  I've been able to avoid costly body work already.  Someone hit my front bumper hard enough to push the passenger side corner up about two inches.  Some quality time with a telephone pole, a tow strap, and a come-along was all it took to get things back where they were before.  Had the bumper been relocated, I would have had to replace front end plastic and get paint matched.

If its going on a 99 and up truck both bumper brackets are inlcuded in the Perf. Acc. body lifts. Summit Racing seems to have pretty good pricing on them.

Hello everyone, my first post!!

I just finished putting the PA body lift on my truck, put 3/4 ton torsion bars on there, cranked em up, and replaced the rear OEM stock block with a 4" block. BFG MT 315 (35's), flares. I only have to put on the rubber things in the wheel wells (also made by PA & available for $50 from Summit. not in the catalog, you'll have to ask.), and the steps.

The truck looks great, and the only complaint I have are that the tires do rub slightly on the inner fender, the plastic part. 1/2 " more of lift would cure that. What is the Ford torsion thing you guys are talking about? I got some pics, if someone want to host them for me.
