2008 gmc yukon 5.3

Wanted to add a cooler, dont really "tow" w/ her truck. Took it to the mountains and got it to 190. Really just wanted a little supplemental cooling for extended life. Was thinking even a stock cooler, dont really need something like to tru cool 40k?

Can i get a cooler and just splice into the return line?

And can i use these fittings to adapt the steel to rubber http://www.transmissioncoolers.us/Merch ... r-fittings?

If so what size are the stock lines?

Can i just cut the stock line and clamp rubber hose to it and then run it to cooler?

And now i see the top return line has like 6-8 inches of rubber hose mid steel line? Can i just cut that hose in middle and barb and clamp it or somethin?

you have a transmission cooler on the truck already

No there is not a cooler on there already... My 2010 sierra has the cooler so i know what im looking at. The 08 yukon just runs threw the radiator like all do...! The extra cooler is inline after the radiator...

that is a cooler in the rad for christ sake

He means he doesn't have an auxiliary cooler, Rob.

Like i said, it runs threw the radiator like ALL DO... if there was no cooler the tranny would burn up in minutes? I figured that was common knowledge...

Some ppl dont read very well...And now u have trolled the post :/

Cool. Don't know if there was a pic viewable but its the OEM aux cooler offered as a GM Accessory. Gets you the OEM cooler, and new lines. Saves from hassle. Sorry if I am annoying lol...just trying to be helpful...

That particular site had no pic, but i did see a pic... Those lines seems harder to replace bc they tie in on the top of the transmission...! I can barely get my hand it there! I was thinkn to just splice into the return line from the radiatoe when it goes from metal line to rubber line?

^^^ This is the route I'd go. Stock cooler size is a 3/4 x 11 x 4.5 stacked plate cooler. Hayden has one (Model 677) that is 3/4 x 11 x 7.5 that will fit your needs. Install is easy. You can splice into your existing rubber return line as you were thinking. Or you can cut the metal crimps off the return line, remove the rubber hose and install your new rubber hoses onto the OEM metal lines, taking advantage of the barbs that are on the lines. A few hose clamps and you're done. Hayden coolers can be purchased for $50 or less. Models 678 & 679 would work for you as well. Just shop price.

You can mount as another member did in pic below or you could mount more toward the passenger side of the radiator and bring the hose through next to the radiator

So let me clarify, rather than splicing in the center of the hose, cut it free from where it meets metal lines and theres a barb i can use for my new hose?

You can do it either way. There is either a bead lock or barbs on the tubing. Many times the OEM lines will develop a leak at the ferrules causing the lines to be replaced. This happens with engine oil cooler lines (if equipped) and power steering cooler lines as well. I have simply replaced the rubber portion of the line after cutting away the ferrule.

You may feel more comfortable cutting the hose and splicing into it. It is the quicker method
