You can use 75w-90 in both diffs

+1. I'm putting 75 in my front 4x4 this weekend. If you read on the back of Amsoil's 75w-90 diff fluid bottle, it states it will work in anything calling for 80w-90 and it actually has GM part numbers to help satisfy you even more.

75W-90 is more fuel efficient and is perfectly acceptable to use.

75w-90 would work in the front for a non-4x4

fyi - There is no front differential on a non-4x4.

Pics would be helpfull, how would someone mistake the diff for the oilpan?

I lady I know was wondering the same thing when after getting here oil changed at local quik lube her front axle froze up on the way home. Had it towed to the GMC and they called her to tell her there was not drain plug in her front axle and it heated up so bad they had to replace the whole thing. Lucky for her the were able to locate a used one for about $1,000. The quick lube place denied it was their fault.
