questions on w/t upgrades

hello, wondering if any of you guys know if i can upgrade my 07.5 NNBS W/T to have oem power windows and the oem fog lights in the bumper end-caps?

 

im sure i can, the wrenching part wouldnt be that bad, but what i dont know is if i have the needed wiring on the truck already that i can just plug and play into. i added DIC, and it had the plug, so know its got me wondering...

 

would also like to know a little about what oem radio/nav upgrades are available to me as a non-bose truck. is it worth it to add what i need to be bose, then add the rest of the bose stereo, or should i just go full aftermarket?

 

right now all i have is the junk delco and factory speakers, i want something that has bluetooth (at least phone if not phone and audio) or at least a jack for my iphone.

 

either way im replacing all the mids and highs, and doing something for some thump, any suggestions would be great. been looking at supthump boxes, not sure what to go with, dual 10, 12, single 10, 12, with amp space...on and on.

 

last truck the amps were behind rear seat back, in another they were under the driver and pass seat, i have a good set of 12's, but prob not good for under seat. also have two good amps, just need the right set-up!

That is true but lets not shut him down like that and work with what he has. Like he wants fog lights that should not be a problem and windows should not be a problem .

 

I dont know of his situation but lets pretend he was given the truck and now he wants to upgrade it .

My truck is a w/t that I upgraded. The fog lamps were not hard on a 1500. Not sure if the 2500 would be the same. The oem power windows will be a major project. I think you would need a donor truck. Not sure about Nav radio but I know it has been done. Search in this forum for all the info you need. If you have steering wheel controls you can replace the VCIM with a bluetooth unit, if your not worried about onstar. Maybe it is better to get these mods already installed but I really enjoyed doing the mods and I got to know my truck by doing them. It truly made it MY truck.

real helpful....find me a truck for cheaper than power windows, a radio, and fog lights and ill buy it!

 

seeing as i have it almost paid for, and i have a crap-load of money in it already, and i got rid of a loaded truck cause i got sick of cleaning the inside of it for three hours a weekend....i think ill keep it!

 

i love having vinyl seats/floors, just wouldnt ever have a vehicle w/out power windows ever again! and since my factory speakers are starting to go, i might as well upgrade while im in there, and add the ability to use my ipod/iphone. same with fogs, my bumper end caps were scuffed up when i bought it and i have been wanting to replace them. so might as well add fogs while im in there.

 

i plan on keeping this truck for a very long time, so im ok putting some coin into it. i only drive it about 4000 miles a year, so its not going to wear-out anytime soon. was just looking for some knowledge from someone on here who had maybe done some upgrades to his W/T as well.

i found a fog kit right from gm, is that what you did? what about the switch? my headlight knob doesnt have a seperate function for the fogs?

 

i agree, my truck is MINE, im making it just for me, to fit what I do with it and how I use it! thanks for a helpful reply!

It should come with a switch the kit but I am not 100 percent sure on that.

I know that the fog light kit is def doable, but I don't have any details on it. There are a few threads on here with detailed install floating around.

 

I don't think I would spend the money or time for the Bose, I would do aftermarket. For the money you would pay for the factory nav, you can get a factory looking nav unit that is way more customizable. Check out the Advent OGM-1, I love mine. You can also get the backup camera for just a little extra charge. Tons of threads on here as well regarding it. :thumbs:

you will need a new dash wiring harness[$400] 2 power window/lock door harness,2 power window motor/tracks,2 door lock auctors,2 door panels and power switches,,and then a vin off a truck that allready has these options so the dealer can re-program the bcm to see these options,,,as for the nav ive got 2 new gm nav radios[with amps inside] antennas and disc,for $950 + shipping,,they are plug and play

      Big oil is raking in billions from the Iran war. Can it avoid Trump’s fury?   Remember I said Big Oil is 'Vertically Integrated"?   Even as they no longer own the majority of the "Pump" they still own the "Well". Crude price upward pressure does not translate into that same pressure on production. Pumping cost remain unaffected and the gap is pure profit. Even after subtraction of a minor, comparatively, lower amount from supposed, but not always, realized refining volume. Consumers hate war, Big Oil, not so much.

      We live in a world where the average person expects more. People say wages and our needs are farther apart. My first new home had 3 bedrooms and one bedroom. My first car and truck had what would be considered a stripped or work vehicle. In my neighborhood back then there were more homes like that and cars too. Middle managers and second home buyers worked their way up to the fancy houses and cars. Car loans were 3 years. GM had different models of cars for different income levels. The cars were pretty much the same size if you wanted a big vehicle. The nameplate designated the opulence. Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and Cadillac.  To be fair some of the cost is government mandated. We can’t blame them for giving us what people will pay for. Careful advertising steering people towards more profitable SUVs and trucks. As I learned recently a minivan is a cheaper more efficient form of transportation. Certainly easier to live with. Somebody realized the profit margin wasn’t as big and gave it a soccer mom label. So it lost its coolness. They’re making it the masses are buying it. You hit your hand with a hammer you can’t blame the hammer.

      Hi All, I’m In need of advice regarding a scan result on my 2023 Silverado HD.  The Sensor Supply voltage relay states ON But…. the following 3 tests show Malfunction. Sensor supply voltage relay control circuit HIGH voltage Test status- Malfunction Sensor supply voltage relay control circuit LOW voltage Test status- Malfunction Sensor supply voltage relay control circuit OPEN test status - Malfunction. No DTC codes are stored. No DIC Lights. Remote Key Fob has been giving a few issues, namely Vehicle will not respond to an Open/Lock command from the key fob. New batteries installed to FOB made no difference, plus on one occasion recently the vehicle unlocked using the Fob, the vehicle started normally via the push button, then a random warning came up on the DIC stating the Remote Key was not found, all this while the key was located next to the central cup holders. Does anyone have any input or advice regarding this scenario? TIA

      I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need
