Odd drivetrain issue

So today I went to help out a buddy who got his truck buried in some mud. I got out into the field fine, and drove through some of the slop with no problems. However, as soon as I would hook up and start pulling I had no power. The truck didnt wanna gain any engine speed, and not one single wheel would turn. I could back up and re tug no problem, but as soon as I would get full load on it all power was gone. I kept the truck in M1 to keep some torque, and to prevent the trans from slipping trying to grab another gear. Traction control and Stabilitrak were turned off. After I gave up and drove home the truck shifted fine, drove fine, and had no strange noises or smells. I also got on it in some gravel to make sure I didnt hurt the posi I put in, and it worked just as it should. I didnt keep an eye on trans temp while in the field, but once back on the road is was at about 180. As I drove it and got some air moved through the cooler it started droping. If it matters the truck is a 2011 Sierra with a 5.3 4x4 and 3.08 gears. I did just put some heavier wheels on along with some 33's. Could it be that the 33's have geared it so far down that it cant do anything in a heavy load situation? Anybody else ever have any issues like this? Or perhaps might know whats causing it? Thanks in advance!

I have not looked at the new 4x4. Does it not have a low range anymore? If it does, did you try it in low range. The 3.08 gears, and the 2 inch taller tires are not helping any. Perhaps a tune will get rid of the torque management and make it a bit better to pull someone out of mud.

I just wouldn't think that the tires would kill it that bad. I should have used 4 lo but I just installed a body lift and the linkage binds going into to low and my lazy ass hasn't adjusted it yet. The best guess I have is torque management. When I was in the sloppy stuff trying to pull both back tires spin. It was only when I tried pulling in the dry that it did this.
