Shout-Out To My Local Southern California Shops

I figured it was about time to give out a formal thank you to everyone who has helped me to make my truck into what it is today! If anyone is located in Southern California, I reccommend these shops 100%!

Bohan's Automotive (Canyon Country, CA) - Performed their FIRST non-OEM motor swap on my truck. Going from a 4.8 to a 6.0 definitely seemed a bit off the edge at the time. But we collaborated our research together and these guys pulled it off without a hitch! Just passed CA smog a few weeks ago too!

Benson's Transmissions (Bloomington, CA) - These guys custom built me a performance 4l60e transmission in 2 days! I dropped it off at 7PM and picked it up at 3PM two days later. They put everything into it to handle that new 6.0L, from the Beast Sunshell, to the Trans-Go HD2 kit, to modified clutch packs, etc. I got the tranny back with a fresh paint job and everything!

Continental Torque Converters (Inglewood, CA) - Chris over at Continental built me a hi-performance torque converter with a 1850 stall to match my new trans. Great guy, with an amazing attitude. I got in touch with him very last minute and he made it happen! No complaints!

Reeve's Rear End (Canyon Country, CA) - Dave Reeves over at Reeve's Rear End re-built my rear-end with hardened gears and brand new Eaton Posi internals for a great price, and with amazing turn-around time! After one minor technicality, Dave took my truck back and re-did the job to make it 100% in a single day. A great shop with an honest attitude and good old-fashioned service, I couldn't ask for better.

Blackbear Performance (Location Unknown) - Justin at Blackbear Performance compiled a custom tune to match my 6.0L to my stock tranny. After I bought my performace trans, I purchased his "Auto-Cal" unit and he gave me three tunes built for my specific truck. He even has you log the computers data and send it to him, so he can make the tune that much better! I can feel the difference between the tunes, and the motor swap would not have been possible without him!

Competition Transmissions (Canyon Country, CA) - I did not actually have any physical work done from these guys (although I know many people who swear by them), but they provided me with more knowledge and opinion about the 4l60e transmission than I could've ever asked for! They made it possible for me to make the decisions I did when purcahsing a trans. Hopefully soon they will be installing a trans cooler for the upcoming 100 degree plus summer!

Well, sorry to rant and rave, but I feel all these guys deserve some recognition. My truck would be sitting up on blocks in my backyard if not for these guys! I know we live in an untrusting world, but it's nice to know there are still some real, honest businesses out there!

On a side note, please know that by writing this I am NOT saying that these are the only good shops out there. I am simply expressing my thoughts based on my personal experience. Hope I could provide some information and help some of you to find some good shops!!!

    • Holy smokes. Clearly not a deal on that truck. I just mean in general, matte or painted trim is becoming more normative than chrome, but I know the Black Optics packages on various vehicles are being sold as uplevel trims. They look really good, but sheesh. It's just paint and plastic.
    • I Wouldn't Know Where to Begin    Oh I know where I would begin but I'm just one of over eight billion people on this rock. Eight billion versions of where the goal post is. How large it should be. How far to kick from. What ball is the right ball. Elevation. Age.....are you getting the point? It isn't about disagreeing with one individual. It's about agreeing only with one individual. One's self.   Agreement comes when multiple people hold the same point already. THAT is the goal of an education. Building the Social Contract. That thing that allows us to all read this sentence. We've agreed on the alphabet and how to arrange those letters into words we agree upon whose meanings hold true for everyone entering into that contract. Those words arranged into a sentence form an idea and several sentences strung together in a paragraph convey an argument for or against or inform the reader of a state, condition or perhaps reveal a things nature. Paint a word picture. Make oneself known.    This contract is not limited to words although they are often explained by words. Things like numbers and their usefulness. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Music, Art and so on.    The frequency of middle C (C4) is 261.63 Hz is a first principle. We build on that to make music we all can enjoy even if we all can not compose or play. You don't have to master it to make it enjoyable and useful.    So why is the Beginning so difficult? Why is agreement so elusive?   Everyone "Signs" the contract (when receiving that education in obtaining it)  but fewer and fewer in this world have any intention of living by that contract. They find exploiting that contract more advantageous. Disruption. With intent. Without intent. In Ignorance. In your face. With a double dog dare you. With a hold my beer. In resistance to that contract and in spite how it looks on us. It permeates the very air we breath.    In this way the contract is subject to advantage. Abide by it when it serves you, disregard it when it doesn't. Unpredictable and self-serving. Corrosive.....Toxic........   It says a lot about a persons character to disregard the contract, the truth, first principles. None of it good.        ********************************************************   https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/character-vs-personality-who-we-are-and-who-we-aspire-to-be/   Just an interesting article.
    • It costs $5,250 for the Yukon Nightfall option (black wheels, emblems and illuminated black GMC grill badge). What a "deal".
    • I keep getting the above error message on my 25 Sierra.  If I reset the infotainment unit (via the phone hang up button) it will work again for a day or 2.   But I dont want to do have to reset  all the time. Works fine in my 2023 Corvette. On both vehicles I connect wirelessly.   I have a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, phone is up to date.  Any Ideas.  See attached
    • LOL, its thrown a few people because this item is being talked about in the gas part of the HD forum. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put a very brief wording in your profile with the year/GM or Chev/2500 or 3500/ and yes the 6.6 Duramax. When I joined this forum I could see the confusion ensuing for my own truck unless I had it listed with my chosen name handle unless one has a few vehicles that apply to a GM forum as that becomes confusing as well. Anyway its all good, makes for a little forum excitement 😉
