whats your opinion on Body Lifts? i am thinking about putting a couple 3 inch BL's on my k5 and my z71 but i think it looks ridiculous these guys with trucks that i can see a huge gap between the frame and bed...

I used to be the same way, but I hated the look of frame hanging down 6" below the body. Then they started hiding the frame more when they came out with the 99 models. Throw a set of side steps on there and at worste it looks like an HD. I still think that a BL on an HD looks silly, but thats just my $0.02.

As far as gap goes, I refused to pay $75 for a piece of rubber when I bought and installed my BL, so I just used a couple of scrap pieces of 16g steel and pop-riveted them into place. I hit the entire wheel well with some rattle can bed coating and it looked pretty darn good IMO. The front wheel wells didnt bother me any so I left them alone.

is there some sort of rubber material i can get at the hard ware store instead of buying a BL

The rubber was just for the gap guards, its not actually part of the lift.

Ive heard of people getting boat rollers and installing them as lift blocks, but then you dont have all of the hardware, extensions, and special pieces that make the lift complete. I would not personally go this route. Just buy the kit and make your own gap guards.
