Bigger Tires question?

Hey Guys,

Have a 2006 Sierra Z71 and want to add a leveling kit and beefier tires but recently a buddy of mine who bought his Silverado brand new in 2010 did the same thing and now his torque converter is gone and luckily its a warranty job (yes he put the original tires back on before going to the dealer) but I wonder if him adding larger tires had anything to do with the torque converter going? Since if I do the same thing my repair won't be covered... Much appreciated for your time..

Cheers.

A lot of guys have put bigger tires on but this is the 1st I heard of the torque convertor going due to it.

I agree. Guys run bigger tires all the time without any problems. :dunno:

I would bet the TC was already on its' way to checking out, and the extra load on it required to get those bigger tires rotating gave it the final little push it needed to go over the edge.
