Repair manual 2011 Silverado 3500HD / Diagnostic tool

Hello everybody,

In a short time I'll hopefully be a proud owner of a 2011 Silverado 3500HD. Because it will then be shipped to Europe and the European Chevy dealers do not know these trucks I need a repair manual for it. After some research I think the Helminc manuals would be the best.

Can somebody tell me if the Helminc "03-11 Service Info DVD" would be the right one for my truck? I've just seen Silverado listed on the "covering-list", so I'm not sure if it also covers the HD models. Or is it a medium/heavy duty truck, what is also covered? Or a C/K pickup/suburban/blazer? Or...?

I think that DVD covers lots of different vehicles, so can somebody tell me if it is worth spending the 250$ if I need the Information just for the one specific truck? Can somebody tell me a little bit about how much information I can find there for the Silverado HD? Interesting for me would be: Exploded diagrams (engine, transmission, axles,...mainly all components), diagnostic help (e.g. signal curves of good sensors, or "If this problem, then check that signal, part, fuse...", best repairing practices,...

Can somebody send me a few print-screens from the helminc dvd so I can see if that would suit my needs?

Then the second part: Which diagnostic tool? I already have a cheap OBDII-code reader (ELM327). That is a great device to see some engine parameters and reset these errors, but for diagnostics, sometimes it would be helpful if also the rest of the control units could be read out. Further, sometimes it would be helpful to switch on/test certain devices (fuel pump, fans,...)

I think real programmers like Blackbear and EfiLive would not be the best thing for my purposes. The Tech2 would be to expensive to use just a few times a year. What do you think about Autoenginuity? Any alternatives?

Thank you

Urs

You also might consider alldatadiy.com. I have it for my truck and have had it for everything I've owned over the years. Fairly complete and way cheaper than the CDs or paper manuals.
