Knocking sound from rear, passenger side ?

Hi everyone!

So yes, another "knocking sound" thread but with some caveats I have not seen yet searching these forums.

Here it is: When it's hot (90F +) I can hear a knocking sound (like someone knocking on a sheet of metal) coming from what seems to be the rear, passenger side.

It'll happen on start, stop and slight inclination change: uphill, downhill, leftward, rightward (if I turn tight with some decent speed I can reproduce the sound). Had the drive shaft checked and dealership says all joints are A OK. They could not reproduce the problem because it was to cool that one day.

It's really driving me crazy since this truck is in pretty good shape and drives like new except for this mickey-mouse cheap ass knocking which makes me miss the quietness of my Sierra 2003 :(

Any ideas I can point the dealership towards ? My truck specs can be found right under my username.

Thanks!

From that description, I'd be looking at the integrity of the exhaust system and mounts.

Good idea,

If your exhaust hanger is brokes or somehow worked it's way loose it would make the sound you are describing. Not being secure would allow it to swing a bit and make contact with the underside of the truck. Take a look at the rear one in the area of the spare tire and make sure it's intact.

Don't have an explination why it would only do it for you when it's that hot outside.

Thanks for the pointers guys.

Govtech4, dealership proposed that but it's kind of unrealistic proposal. Taking the day off from work and rolling around wishing the noise comes back is quite unpractical. They're not opened on weekends sadly.
