Hey all!  This isn't my first forum, I'm a member of J-Body.org, GMPOWERTALK.COM and my least favorite: Ford Talk.  I just bought a 2003 S-10 Crew Cab on Saturday (traded in my Malibu for it).  For some reason, I just never was into trucks, until I test drove it!  Wow... what I've been missing.  Anyway, I've done many shady-tree mechanic projects and was wondering where I can get my hands wet on the 4.3L V6 S-10.  My wife says I have to leave it alone for a couple of weeks, so I won't have the same fiaso as with the Cavailier, or the Monte Carlo, ahhhh I think the same problem happened with the Caprise and Camaro... noooo... the Firebird and Firenza too... man... maybe I should leave this one alone!!! LOL

I'm still going through the posts.. but on first look... are there alot of S-10 CC owners out there?

1st impressions:

Good:

Not bad acceleration

4X4 was tested already, good stuff

comfortable

enough toys to keep a guy happy

Bad:

car seat doesn't fit as well, but it's doable!

radio doesn't sound as good as my Malibu (any quick/cheap fixes?)

engine doesn't seem 'loud' at high RPM, even with window open... is the intake restrictive?  (like every GM car made)

Last, but not least... Good site guys!!!  I've done some searches and found good info.  How many members would you say are on here?

Oh... and to add some humor, I had to join fordtalk because of my wife's Windstar (I'm still working on that), their F-150 forum is mostly "How do I fix"... ehehehe... this forum doesn't seem to have many problems   Could the slogan be true?  Did I just buy the longest lasting truck out there under 25K?

Welcome. I just bought my first truck too and am fairly new to this forum. It is a great forum. I'm spending way too much time here.

Welcome aboard.

There really isn't a cheap and easy fix for the radio without major after market modifications. The best thing you can do is actually replace the factory radio which is what I did a little over 2 years ago.

I installed an Alpine CDA 7864 and it made a serious difference even while I kept the stock speakers for a while (since upgraded to Boston Acoustic).

Good luck with the truck and enjoy the site.

edit-And btw,the intake is very restrictive. If interested, you can pick up a K&N FIPK for around $200 for the S10's as long as you look around and it will make a big difference.

Thanks guys!  After a warm welcome like that, I'll definately visit this site daily!!!  Great site, and 5,000 members!  Wow... After reading through the posts, considering 5,000 members, and not really seeing any "I have this problem" posts with any truck UNDER 75K miles, I feel very strong about my new investment.  Well, that and this truck kicks @ss.

No, no 6 disc in dash changer, low on funds at the moment, couldn't pop for it.  And I don't have a digital camera yet (next toy), so no pictures (sorry).

They're calling for snow tomorrow night, I can't wait!  BRING IT ON   LOL
