Another Service 4WD

I've read that there could be many things to consider, but based on my recent service, I was wondering if it could be simple.

 

Back in March, my Service 4WD message would come on. It came on regularly, so when I replaced the electronic switch and the issue went away completely, I thought it was fixed. Last weekend, I replaced the front differential fluid and also the transfer case fluid. That night, I pulled off the road into some sand, put the truck in 4HI and just drove around a bit. I put the truck back into 2HI and drove away. Two miles down the road, I pulled out onto a road with a blind hill and noticed a car coming up on me rather quickly. since I pulled in front of him, I gunned it to get up to speed faster. At that time, the Service 4WD message came on. Since then, it has been a regular ocurence with it acting up. Yesterday, the message never came on and the switch was completely dark. I turned off the truck and restarted and the module showed me in Neutral. After a few minutes, I pressed the 2HI button and after a few blinks, it went into 2HI.

 

My question is, could I have a bad switch or could it be something else I should troubleshoot? If it was a larger problem the first time, I would think the switch replacement wouldn't have resolved the Service 4WD message for 3 months.
