showard47651 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 What is the best factory style backup camera that will work with factory navigation unit?? And best price???
ruggedlife Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 i'd just get the factory gm kit.... they offer the pieces you need in a kit... if you want to rig it in youll need the camera/bezel which will run you 2-3 hundred dollars as well as a pac interface kit which will probably run you another 2-3 hundred dollars. then pull the head unit out wire in the pac run wires front to back and hook it all up
wottenad Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 What is the best factory style backup camera that will work with factory navigation unit?? And best price??? You should look at the Camera Source kit (their ad is in the left sidebar) - it runs under $225 with the factory adaptor, then you'll have to get your navi programmed to accept it. It's a FAR better camera than factory and comes in the GM bezel so it looks identical to factory stuff...
Chevyboxer Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I ended up buying the camera mentioned above. It looks stock and also produces a great picture.
showard47651 Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 How much does it cost to get factori navi programmed to it? Was it hard to install?
Chevyboxer Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 The hardest part was running the wire I have a 2009 so my tailgate and bed already had holes in them. I hooked it up to an OGM 1. I don't believe you would have to reprogram it, but I'm not sure if the connectors are the same.
wottenad Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 How much does it cost to get factori navi programmed to it? Was it hard to install? GM dealer will usually whack you about 1/2 hour to an hour for reprogramming, and if you're truck is newer than 2008 and DID NOT come with a navi as factory equipment, be prepare to bring a new VIN for the GM guys to plug into their GM TIS system. In other words, if your truck didn't originally come with a navi, there will not be an option to program a camera into your deck that, as far as GM knows, was never installed in the truck...
