OGM-1 will not find ipod source.

Hey everyone, I just installed an OGM-1 yesterday. Everything works perfect other than the ipod and I wonder if anyone has any ideas what might be wrong. When I plug my ipod into the media jack using the cable that came with the ipod, the ipod icon on the menu screen stays faded out (source not available) and will not even charge. I thought maybe I connected wrong but I checked the connections and everything looked fine. I then used a jlink cable and the ipod would charge but the unit could still not find the source. ??? confused to say the least

What type of iPod? Not all generations are supported. The manual should say which ones are.

ahhh...I wasn't aware of that. Its an ipod touch I picked up in about February 2012.

That should be fine then. By chance have you tried the jlink cable?

I have yes, it charges but the unit cant source it to play anything. Just the shadowed out ipod icon. No big deal as I doubt I would use it much but you always like everything to be working when you put in something new.

I had that happen with an ipod cable that apparently didn't have all the connections. It would charge but not play.

Tried with a different cable and it worked good.

Also, check the plugs in the back of the OGM1.

Make sure they are seated well and STAY that way. With my current OGM1 (number 3 actually since the first 2 had other problems), one of the two main breakout plugs at the back of the unit - the one that has the ipod wires - would not stay seated well enough to keep a secure connection. The plug itself looked fine so it looks like it is the plug on the OGM1 itself. I was finally able to get it to stay seated well enough by using a cable tie and strapping it together with the other breakout cable once I find the position that worked.

Normally, I would have returned it but since I was on my 3rd unit I didnt want to go through the return process again (more fun then a barrel of monkeys). Seems the QC on these things is pretty bad considering all three of my units had problems.
