As the sled puts more weight on the truck u loose weight of the front end and cant get traction or stear

You won't break shit if you don't let it buck. Get fabtech tie rod sleeves and cognito idler/pitman arm braces. She'll be fine.

Ha you guys are funny,, So it seems the front end gets the most abuse,

@-the rod.. you seem like you have expierience in this..I figured id be into 100% the whole time to get the farthest possible..

whats the average trucks pulling length.. And do the diesels always do the best because of there tq or are there other variables to it?

like weight,wheelbase,etc...

I remember a freind of mine went to the pull at a local fair here and said a 6.0 truck beat an 8.1 and an lb7 dmax truck...

Also im not trying to make a hobby of this!! I just watched some videos and always wanted to try it to see what the truck could do..

Use 4 LO for sure. Get tie rod sleeves. Lower the torsion bars down in the front, so that the nose won't get too high when you're pulling. Block the rear suspension. Take off easy to avoid wheel hop. When you get past the 25' mark, let the big dog eat and don't let off until you stop moving...unless it starts bucking like crazy...that's hard on stuff. And post a video!

What do you mean by 'block the rear' and were would i find tie rod straps?

I have never actually pulled a sled myself. But I have friends and family that pull truck nearly every weekend during the summer...and I'm always on their 'pit crew', haha. Most 4x4 shops can get tie rod sleeves for you. As previously stated, Fabtech makes them also. You don't have to block your rear suspension, but it helps. Adding weight to the front helps too. Because, as you go down the track, the weight transfer box on the sled is going to move forward...which puts more weight on the back of the truck...which in turn, un-loads the front suspension...which reduces traction and steering control. Also, nearly all of the good guys roll out easy at first, then lay into it after the first few feet. It's easier on parts, and helps maintain traction.
