Transfer case failure

2003 1500HD with 246 t-case, 217k. Started making noise last week, found two small holes from pump rub, drained 8oz from case, so it has not been dry. Repaired holes, re-filled with AutoTrak, still have noise. Am I risking catastrophic failure if waiting approximateley a month to repair? I know case is full of oil.

Thanks.

Damage has already been done. As long as it stays full of fluid you won't do any further damage. However, given the possible weakened state of the internals I would not tow with it until it gets rebuilt.

Just my $.02

Yep. Go on merchant automotive.com buy their pump rub kit. Best one going...what you done might work for a bit. But eventually will leak again for sure...

And rebuild it also, Sounds like you dried it out. 8oz of oil is barely enough for the chain to pick it up. I wouldn't drive it like that, no long trips anyways.

What you use to repair??? JB Weld???
