OGM1 Bug becomes OGM1 broken?

So I've been getting odd behavior of late with the presets on XM and FM randomly jumping back to the first preset position with no interaction from me. The behavior would calm down for a bit by resetting the unit, but today when I did the reset, when the OGM1 powered back up, I had to suffer through the green/blue/red solid screens (which I'd also seen before, not sure if there was any correlation) until the splash screen/chimes would start. Once it booted fully, however, all presets were gone, the audio customizations were lost and now the screen is totally unresponsive. I can't get to any menu level that requires using an on-screen button to activate. That means that I can't just re-load the factory firmware and try to re-install since the 'next' button in "Settings" is now inoperative.

Any ideas? I get radio- if I use the dial to tune a station (both FM, AM and XM), but can't save any presets, I can't fix the audio (the equalizer settings were wiped out), I can't use the Menu screen at all and the unit is barely over 1 year old. I have the latest firmware on the maps SD card already (hence why I had XM presets that worked with the SW controls in the first place), but was hoping to re-install it tonight. With a dead touchscreen (and the option to reset the system on the second level of the settings that is only accessible by touchscreen buttons), I can't do anything to get out of the issue I find myself in.

Anyone else experienced this (after roughly 11 months in service)? I did contact Walt at ADC directly through their site, but that was just before I reloaded the firmware to the map card and tried the 'reinstall'...problem is, I didn't remember that I needed touchscreen operation to GET to the reset functions, so I'm dead in the water. Merely cycling power is not the cure (at least so far; maybe in the morning I'll go out and things will work right- doubt that though).

Quick update to this saga:

Walt from ADC Mobile called me (I'd put the question to him on the ADC site too), and suggested a fix for the touchscreen. His thought was there was some extra strain on the nosepiece, effectively "pinching" the touchscreen so it wasn't functioning correctly. His idea was to unbolt the unit from the dash (I have an LT, the screen is between the air vents), unplug it totally and then plug it back in but NOT to bolt it into the dash. If he was right, the released tension would allow the screen to operate properly, and I'd have the problem solved.

This actually seems to have worked...it didn't take right away though; last night with the deck out of the dash (on top of the dash), the screen remained non-responsive. However, this morning, it's back working (so basically after about 9 hours of sitting). It might have helped a bit that temps never got too far below freezing last night, but SO FAR, I have full functionality back. I was able to dial in and save presets on both FM and XM (I ignore AM radio), could get the equalizer, and could move to the second Settings page.

For now- I think it's somewhat solved; hopefully the symptoms won't return. I will be keeping a close eye on it though.

How old is your unit? My first two units had this problem - it was a design flaw with the screen not having enough rigidity. If it flex just the slightest bit it would be like holding down buttons. My third unit came after they started putting in reinforcement brackets to help prevent it.

Ernie,

It's a little over a year old; and right this minute, it's stuck on the black "Calibration" screen and the crosshair is running rampant around the display. Mind you, the key is out of the truck, and I'm sitting at my office computer, but that screen remained active the entire time I was in Subway grabbing lunch (5 minutes, no power to the truck).

So...the "loosen and re-seat" option DID NOT work. I suppose the colder temps are not helping, but this unit is currently a $1000 paperweight.

Time to call Walt back and arrange the return....

Actually, that happened to my second unit. Eventually, it became "stuck". Taking it in and out no longer helped and it was completely useless. I feel your pain, good luck.
