Intermediate Shaft Replacement Cost

I still have the original shaft in my 2001 Silverado. It got the grease treatment a couple times under warranty. Now it is due for replacement or re-greasing. The shop quoted me $325.00 to replace with the new greaseless shaft. Seems high but I am concerned about doing it myself only due to possibility of wheels moving. Does this quote sound right?

It may be reasonable, depends on labor rates in your area. Around here, I could get it done for probably $75 - $100 for labor. Part will be around $75 depending on manufacturer. But you can do it yourself

Directions

Just secure the steering wheel so it can not spin.

Thanks for the link. seems easy. labor here runs $85/hour plus they usually double the price of the part. not hard to hit $325.
