02 chevy silverado ls 5.3 4x4 fuel pump question

Sorry if this has been asked but need help

 

i bought a fuel pump off ebay says it would fit my truck

i put it in and had to cut one of the connectors and use the one the pump came with

 

its started up fine and ran but when i push on the gas there is no response or dosent catch unless i ease it

when i shut it off it started back up then wanted to die

i notcied that the tee connecting the middle hose on the pump to the gas tank broke

 

regarded this i know i have to fix it but is this my problem?

And to take of the tee is a pain in the butt any advice on how to get if off and replace it

Oh and then today i tried to start it and it started up again but same problem

This might be a dumb question but why would you have to cut a connector off on a replacement fuel pump? What was the part number/manufacturer of the pump you purchased? The next thing that I would do is to check the fuel pressure...

It is a fuel pump from herko part number is E3501m was off ebay it says it fits all 02 chevy silverado 1500 the pump came with a connector that fit the new fuel pump

would that vacu-tite tee being broken cause this problem

I can't see what vacu-tite tee you're talking about....lol. I'd be skeptical though about a fuel pump that cost less than $50. A picture is worth a thousand words....

BTW, according to Herko's online catalog the correct p/n would be E3500M but then again it looks as though it depends on how many connectors you have going to the pump. Rock Auto sells Airtex and they use the exact same part numbers.....hmmmm.

After a little more digging (yes I was bored tonight) I think you got a pump designed for a vehicle w/o Evap Emissions....the E3500M should have been the correct part. I'm surprised you were able to install it correctly at all.

Thank you very much for your help the pump in deed only has one connector where as my old old had two the second connector broke off when dropped it and didnt see wires i just connected back to its slot the.im new to working on cars and trucks. The feul pump truns on and everything. Again thank you i will have to see if they will let me exchange for the part number you are reffering to

The other pump will be here Wednesday

 

As i read the return policy dont know if ill be able to return it since it had gas in it cleaned it the best i could

 

but what is the evap for is that for like different states for emissions reasons

i live in cali and i wanna see if i can sell the pump that wont work

Every vehicle sold in the US has emissions systems.....just tell them the pump wouldn't supply the correct pressure. I doubt you'll have much luck selling it, especially in the state of California.
