97gmc head gasket

My dad is looking at buying a 97 gmc k2500 but it says it needs a new head gasket it doesn't say how many miles but it says:

 

New head lights,all new front end parts,new alignment, new front brake pads, heavy duty drums and shoes, new radiator and thermostat drives great and it just says they can't afford to put a new head gasket in it were both curious as to whether or not its worth it what are your guys thoughts on it?

 

O and he wants $1500 for it

imo its a truck with a failed engine and if ya want the truck ,,,its a $500 bill or nothing ,,he's thinking he has a caddy or sumfin !!!!

If he's put that much in to it and all that's wrong is a head gasket he doesn't wanna fix id be suspicious. Just my opinion though... I wouldn't buy it

Ask "can I have it takin to my mechanic to get it looked over?". If he doesn't let you walk away right then because he's hiding something...

Blown head gasket would make me walk away. Unless you are planning on dropping a new motor in???

Got to agree with all others, highly suspicious. I'd go with Rob's idea, get it for cheap and drop in a new motor.

We talked to the guy and the body isn't in very good shape either so we pretty much lost interest

Good call too bad he will probably find a sucker. I hate it when people try to sell stuff like this.
