Need some assistance w/ homework

I have to do four small projects for my Philosophy class this semester. It sucks. Anyway, it seems that the goal is to annoy people much the way Socrates annoyed people during his life.

If anyone here is willing to help I would appreciate it. All I need you to do is answer these three questions (preferably with at least some seriousness ) Also could you tell me your aproximate age, gender, location, and occupation at the end of the questions too. Thanks for any help I get.

1) Think of something you know, you know. How do you know this?

2) How do you know that it is true?

3) What is truth, and if you know what it is, how do you know you are correct?

#2 is a patented socroties question, don't correlate Truth with knowledge. Nor knowledge with wisdom.

#3 is how socoties pissed off the entire greek civilization except Plato lol! It only works if #2 is explained in relation to #1...

#1- 2+2=4; you see two plus two equal four in the sense that you divide two in half and you get two ones, now add a one to the first two and you got three, then add the other one to the three and you get four. So 2+2=4.

Since the Military and civilian worlds are so very different, this may be hard for your professor to swallow.

Navy people will have no problem accepting this.

1) I know that I am a crew chief in a helicopter squadron.

2) There are helicopters everywhere I look that bear my squadron logo, and everyone is wearing funny green coveralls and carrying helmet bags.

3) I AM THE TRUTH BECAUSE I AM THE CHIEF!!!

Actually the enitre city did not vote for his death. The vote was 281 to 220. And of course as you already know only wealthy people voted, and those were the ones who he always asked these questions. The lower class thought it was funny and loved him.

1. I know that my husband loves me. I know this because he tells me so and shows me by taking care of my truck, cooking dinner if I have to work late, he takes care of our son, pays the bills. In short he makes my life worry free and takes good care of our family. Actions speak louder than words.

2. I was married before and the ex told me he loved me but never took care of anything. I was always worried about the bill getting paid and I took care of my own truck. I was taking care of what family we had. Without getting into the definition of love I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Tim(my current husband) love me and my ex did not(at least not in the last 3 years of our relationship).

3. Truth is knowing something and everyone else knowing the same thing and agreeing with you. You can ask hundreds of people and they will all say the same thing. I think truth is concrete.

Well...I hope that helps. It's the only truth I know.

Thanks for the reply Batgirl. I will definately use this too. But I do have to play the role of the annoying person for a second and ask something about your last anwser.....

Hundreds of people agreed it was OK to kill Jews when Hitler was doing. And according to the staement you made it would be true that it was OK to kill Jews just because they were Jews.

I know that is not what you menat, but I felt obligated to point out the weakness in this particular definition in case you were to use it at some other time. I would like to thank you very much for such serious answers. This is very helpful.

Actually if one reads deep enough, most of the people he "researched" or in watz terms HARRASED! He did this during the day at the market place. and although the rich didn't like him for questioning "Why" the poor didn't like the idea of looking at ones self for true happiness either. The vote, I thought was more BS. As to say he swayed a lot of people with his speech or arguement with miatez? (can't remember the youngsters name) When if you look at what the books write about the conversation their are way to many assumptions and acusations anyway....

Personally I think Johnny Cochran <sp?> copied his style, but yet in todays court of bitter lawyers he <socraties> would have been put to death many times over.... but that's just my opinion and I barely passed humanities...lol (could have been the fact I argued EVERY point)....
