Scratched wheels

So I have managed to scratch up 3 of my wheels on my 2011 2500 HD. It was caused by getting the truck stuck in snow while plowing and the ground was partially thawed. Rocks / gravel in the snow rubbed up against the wheel and now I have circular scratches. I have the forged aluminum rpo code PYV wheels.

How much of a job is it to polish these out ? Any recommendations for a product ? I was told by a body shop estimator that the wheels are not coated with any clearcoat but I saw a GM TSB stating that all their polished aluminum wheels are coated with some type of clearcoat

Best way to test for clear coat - Aluminum polish rubbed into wheel, if it starts to turn black its not coated. Dont go crazy, cause if it is coated you dont want to wear the coating off. No black means you have clear coat!

Good luck. I've tried getting the scratches out of mine from back in the day when I used to mud ride on the weekends. Haven't had any luck.

The wheels were designed to keep the tires on cars from getting damaged.Most of these imperfections that land on the rims of our ties are either from snow, slush etc. to get few scratches on wheel.Wash your tire and rim with warm soapy water and rinse. Towel dry, and then take a lint-free cloth with some paint thinner to rub around the affected area.Use optic polishing material for excellent surface finishing.

Acc. to my knowledge which give best result good for removing scratches are polish like Einszett Extra and or Paint should get rid of them.After just put a nice coat of wax on it .You could use most any paint care product such as FX SynWax, California Gold Carnauba Cleaner Wax, etc. You can even use California Gold Scratch Remover to remove surface scratches, though you would want to wax afterwards.
