Advent OGM1 opinion

Hey there,

Havent posted in quite some time.

I bought a new 2013 model. I was going to wait a few years and buy the new model Silverado but got a good deal with 0% financing and couldn't pass it up.

I am thinking of buying the OGM1 so I dont need to fiddle around with adapters to get everything to work. I am curious what people think of the OGM1 if they own one. Would you buy it again? or .go a different route

There are tons and tons of threads on the OGM1. I've had mine since the beginning of 2012 and have been happy with it.

Had mine since the begining of this year. LOVE IT. added a WDTV to it and now have unlimited movies and music for any road trip. You can modify it in so many more ways than the factory nav. Talk to Walt at ADC Mobile and he will have answers to any questions you may have. He is also always willing to help you in any way you can if you ever have any troubles with it.

I installed mine over a year ago and have been very happy with it. I especially like the GPS maps. Also can't beat the product support you get from walt @ ADC Mobile.

I like mine it seems they make improvements on every firmware update. Not sure how many more there are gonna be with the newer trucks coming out. I would like to see song and artist when streaming on bluetooth and be able to change songs with steering wheel when using bluetooth.

I use the bluetooth more than anything so it would be nice.

Anyone of you that have it have a similar issue as me? I just bought it and installed the unit without any problems. My issue is when punching in an address on the navigation and listening to XM radio, the turn by turn audio doesnt play. THe volume on the XM gets really loud then quiet again where the automated voice is supposed to be saying when to turn.

When there should be a voice prompt, adjust the volume. I've had that happen where I turned down the volume during a prompt and it only changes that, nothing else.

THe volume on the XM gets really loud then quiet again where the automated voice is supposed to be saying when to turn.

There are actually two volume controls. One you already know about. The second is for the voice prompts. Both use the same control. For the voice prompt control - set up a route and when it gets to the point where it should be telling you what to do - turn up the volume knob. It must be during that time only. Any other time, it will adjust your music volume. It may take a few times to get it just right but it does work. Adjusting the volume during the voice prompts will not affect the music volume.

Great, ill give that a shot on my next drive and post back! It doesn't do it when listening to Ipod or radio though. Strange

So I tried doing what was suggested but the voice prompts still do not work. It did raise both volumes so I know it did it correctly. Again, this seems to only not work when listening to XM radio. It works fine listening to the normal radio or Ipod. Any other idea why this doesn't work?

Nope. Drove 900 miles last night using GPS and XM. I don't have the most recent firmware though.

Yes, I have the same problem, and Walt @ ADC said a few others are as well. It sounds like Advent is working on it. Must be the latest firmware.
