2012 2500 HD Tire Size

Hi Everyone, Im new here and also just purchased a (new to me) 2012 GMC 2500HD 4x4 crew cab short box with a 6.0 gaser, Its bone stock and came with 245/70r 17 Firestones, I dont want to modify the suspension and dont want to crank the torsion bars just yet, But wondering whats the largest tire I could get away with using the stock chrome wheels. i will be towing with it and would prefer to leave the suspension alone.

Its probably been asked before My eyes are blurred with all of the tire and wheel questions I have scanned here. I really did look before asking.

Without messing with anything I would say a 265/75R16 or a 265/70R17

Thank you. I was hoping i could go a little larger than whats on there. It has a lot of fender well available.

Yeah, without touching your suspension, 265/70/17's would be just fine. 285/70/17's would fit without much trouble though.
