Looking into a magnifier

Hehe.. I feel you on the suprise expenses... Just got back from a weekend retreat and drove downtown. Stopped and looked at a 2014 GMC granite metallic - Shouldn't have - now I want to make a call.

I have a trip coming up in November that I just was informed about and to make the trip I have to get new tires on all corners, plus i need new knock sensors and a new cat to pass emissions in November

Agree completely. I learned long ago not to go anywhere without my truck - unless I absolutely have to.

Chris, Primary Arms products are great for the price. They actually set their own specs. and standards for their suppliers and are good quality compared to any other "knock off" brands out there. I have been using their products for a long time on some of my personal rifles.

 

I run a PA red dot and 3x's magnifier on a beater Windham that I have and it works out great. Not Aimpoint or Eotech quality but better than other knock off and cloned items out there.

 

If you are set on a 3x magnifier, the PA gen3 is the way to go without breaking the bank. I would also suggest a PA flip to side mount for easy out of the way. For around $50 you can't get much better.

For shooting max 200 yards would a 3x or 6x be best. Average I shoot is 75-100 because the target is shot with my AR and a .22. I also have a bad back so carrying the targets far is a pain

3X would probably be best... Easy way to tell if it's enough magnification for yea is to borrow dads/ a buddys deer rifle with a decent 3x9 and turn it down to 3, is it magnified enough for you?

 

For precision.. It's not enough imo.. but shooting out to 300 yards on silhouettes.. plenty. I can sit and shoot at a 10" steel plate at 300 yards with 5.56 pretty consistently. at 3x. I also only hunt at 3-4x on my rifles unless something is stationary for the increased field of view.

I would go with the 3x if no more than 200yds.

I checked out the PA 6x magnifier. Hell, for $100 I'm gonna give it a go. But I don't know what rise I need for my red dot. Where do I measure from to get the correct flip-out mount height. One was a standard and the other said 7mm....

 

I have a Bushnell trophy red dot.

Depends on the sight. My EOTech has the rased base. I knew this when I bought it. Check the model number of your sight and run it on google

All of that information is available from Primary Arms. It tells you which mount to co-witness on an AR15 in the drop down menu when you pick the mount. If you are not sure, give them a call. They sell Bushnell products and would be able to give you the correct answer.

Picked up the 3x PA with extended eye relief today. Mounted it with an American Defense swivel ring.

 

Everything lines up nice and got the red dot all focused. I'm going to try to get out this weekend to see how it all works.
