6.0 Towing

We took my friends 6.0 Crew Cab, Auto, 4.10's on a snowmobile trip towing between 2000-2500 lbs. When we come up on a hill and he kicked it down it had like a stutter around 3900 and it didn't wanna go over 70, I can't imagine this to be normal, anyone know if it is or may there be a problem ?

I've had my 6.0L cranking over 5K RPMS and 70 + MPH in second gear with a 8000 lb load behind it just by putting my foot to it!!!  And she was pulling strong up a 1/2 mile hill!!!

Something doesn't seem quite right with your buddies truck!!!

I've got to agree with Shaners.  I've got a slightly lighter load but, I've been over 4K rpm over 70 mph in 2nd uphill in PA and pulled great.

I have a 1500HD, 6.0 and pull a 9500# car hauler. Have never experienced this problem. Sounds like torque converter or ignition problem.

I have the 6.0l with 4.10 gears pulling a 4 place enclosed snowmobile trailer and never had the problem your talking about. I have hit some pretty good hills heading into the White Mountains.

We take dads 6.0,cc,auto, 4.10's pulling an aluminum 4 place loaded to Michigan and never have any problems. I think the last trip it only shifted down to 3rd twice the whole trip. We run 75-80 most of the time. No problems, something must be wrong with yours.

I've pulled a gooseneck with a load on it pushing the total weight above 15,000 on a 6.0 and the Engine took it like a champ.  But I have a stick and I shifted at 4500rpms.
