2006 GMC Sierra 1500 engine froze

The motor with 68,500 turned off while driving. Took it to the dealer and they say motor won't turn over, need new engine. Never had a problem, no loss of oil, no check engine lights. Don't understand why. Help anyone?

A bearing or ring could have seized causing the engine to freeze up

I know this will sound stupid, but remove the accessory belt from the front of the engine and retry. I actually saw a tech at the dealer I worked at replace an engine customer pay no less for it being "seized" only to have the replacement also "seized" what it actually was is the Alternator locked up tight and the starter motor wasn't able to overcome the belt to turn the crank.

 

 

Funniest part of that one was he didn't even realize the once he had the accessories off the front of the engine he was able to turn the flywheel by hand to unbolt the torque converter

Damn I'd be pissed if I paid for a new motor I didn't need, especially for the dealer to install it, that's some serious $$$
