Whistling/wind noise

My old truck did this as well, 2001 GMC Sierra extended cab. My current truck, 2003 Avalanche 2500 is doing it as well. Same type of whistling noise when driving down the highway. It gets higher pitched the faster you drive. Any clues as to what is causing it? Very irritating especailly when driving 70-80 mph for an hour to and from work.

A bug deflector or window vent visors will cause this problem too.

Door seals. Has your door been grabbed by the wind at all recently? My previous truck was perfect until one day the door was grabbed by the wind when I opened it. bent the door hinge supports just enough that the seal wasn't perfectly tight. No water ever got in, but it made the same wind noise and whistle as you describe.

Not aware of the wind ever catching the door but it may have with PO. There are window vents on it so maybe that is the culprit as I had these on my old truck as well.

Those vent shields will not cause the whistling. I have them on my truck and aside from maybe some wind noise on certain days, there is no whistle at all.

Also check you widow sills my 74 had this issue and replace the windows sills fixed it for me.
