Bluetooth Pairing Issues

Recommended Posts

Posted

One of my uncles was over for Thanksgiving this afternoon and wanted me to pair his iPhone to his 2011 Chevy. No problem, simple process.

The manual says to hold the mute / pick up button for two seconds, then say "bluetooth", then "pair". Whenever I hold the button, it goes to the OnStar hands free calling menu and never gives me the option to pair a Bluetooth device, nor does it recommend the "bluetooth" command.

I've done this multiple times with no issues on other vehicles but this one has me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I assumed if the truck had the steering wheel controls with the phone symbols on them it was equipped with Bluetooth. I guess they use the same Bluetooth/mute button whether the truck does or doesn't have Bluetooth.

I had an 08 Avalanche that had the same controls at my 12 Silverado and my Avalanche didn't have it, but my new truck does.

It has the phone button because of the OnStar hands free calling. You'd answer that the same way you would a paired BT phone.
