Star1018 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 So I got a 30 inch light bar I am going to put behind the grill on my 14 SLT Sierra. I went ahead and bought a harness and plan to run it through the grommet and put it like the OP on the rubber beside the tilt lever. 3 questions....1.) how did you guys mount the lightbar and what did you use? Pics of possible 2.) Is the grommet on the driver side the best place to run the harness through? 3.) will I have to cut the switch off and rewire it to fit it through the grommet and rubber piece? Main thing I'm worried about is not breaking anything when taking the grill off and how I'm going to mount it I have a switch box for my blue lights and amber lights and leds that I just ran the wiring through the top of the rubber sleeve where theres wiring and I believe all the steering components I can take a picture in an hour or so and post it for you its simple to get through and its not going to be in the way of anything or break anything.

I ran it through the same place. Just had to cut a slit in that nipple on the top of the grommet and fed a hanger through and pulled the wires through no problem.

Kerrslight Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 yup exactly what I did simple started off as a pain but happy with it Yea no doubt. Idk about you, but I had to remove the cover on that junction box under the steering column. Once I did, it was much easier to run the hanger through.
dylbeau1500 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) I am looking to put more lights on the truck and was wondering how to run the switch up into the area where home link is but my truck doesn't have it so I have room up there. I can take the panel off but I'm not sure how to get the a pillar or headliner removed to tuck the wire/switch behind. If anyone can give me some tips or has done it before that would be much appreciated. Thank you Edited September 1, 2015 by dylbeau1500

Other than that they just pop out. Not sure about the headliner. Wouldn't be surprised if it's just clipped in like the a-pillars

Ryan698 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Any recommendations on a 30" curved light bar? Looking for Cree light and not wanting to break the bank ebay is fine... What have you guys used Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
sundj15 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I didn't get a curved one but am very happy with the cheapest one on ebay I could find. My quality was actually a lot better than expected. I took the chance and I'll do it again. I will get a curved at some point. More than likely will find the best deal again then also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kerrslight Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Finally got a chance to take some output pics. Lightbar is a 30" combo beam pattern I found off Amazon. I think if I move it up a quarter of an inch, it would be centered in the spacing in the grill and probably have some additional output. There is a fair amount being blocked by the grill right now, but still lights up the night. 55W 5000K HID's High Beam Low's and Light Bar High's and Light Bar 4

Willie will Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 who did you get your light bar from kerrslight?
Kerrslight Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) who did you get your light bar from kerrslight? This is the one I got. There are many other single row light bars to choose from, but I chose this one because it has combo beam pattern. Most single row light bars are only spot beam. I'm surprised at the price though. I paid $120 for it when i ordered it. Also note if you get this bar, you need to buy a deutsch style connector or something similar that will plug into your wiring harness. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OC7TSWI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01 Everyone that has seen my lightbar say its crazy bright, but call me crazy, I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, it really is very bright, but a double row has x2 # of LED's. I really wanted a curved double row 30", but I didn't think the spacing in the grill would allow both rows to shine through. After searching more, I found someone that has done that with the all-terrain grill so I ordered another light bar and will swap it out to compare when it gets in.
