its paintable (anything is).  If you do it right the paint will hold.  I painted my mirrors (chrome part) and its holding up great except for a few rock chips which is expected

if you add a modifier itll be fine.  How do you think gm paints their plastic bumpers?  My moms blazer bumper is basically plastic and the bodyshop adds a flex additive (she is having some work done to her truck after a hit and run)

My mirrors (plastic) have been subjected to -10 to 100 degree temps and are fine.

I used interior acrylic laquer on some interior panels. And it matched and worked perfect.  But I have know idea how it would hold up on exterior in a severe spot like an air dam.

Like said before above, there is a "primer" to treat the plastic prior to painting, just dont know what its called.

I think that because of the area...You could go with a type of Rhino-liner. It wouldn't be that obvious, and you woulnd't have to wax it. Sure as he!! wouldn't chip.

Most of the local shops here will spray that crap on anything. For a small fee of course.

Just my 2 cents.

It's not that hard to do   I did it on my airdam before getting my bumper cover.

Just make sure you clean, primer, sand, prime, sand, prime

Dupont makes  Plas-stick which is a bonding system for plastics and it can take a beating... thats what everyone uses when painting the cladding on avalanches

it's a primer  but it's also a full paint system to   you can buy the plas-stick primer, flex agent, cleaner, sealer, clear coat, base coat...  theres a full article on it in the new truckin' or streetrucks where they paint the claddy on an avy.

I painted mine and haven't had any problems, except putting the piece back on, and slamming the air dam into a couple piles of snow and rocks.  I got my stuff at Napa, I didn't sand the texture off it, because no one really looks that close, and the clear will add a little depth and make it smooth feeling.
