Can you switch Silverado LT headlights with LTZ

Recommended Posts

So I just purchased a 2014 Silverado, I didn't even realize there was a difference in headlights between the LT and the LTZ. I really like the LTZ lights. However purchasing an LTZ is was out of the price range. I'm just wondering can you swap out the LT lights with LTZ "projector lights"

Where would I purchase these if so?

nevermind with a little searching I found another thread... have to remember to search before you ask....

Yes, they are completely plug and play. Atleast they were for my lt truck.

I can't imagine the the projector style are much better than the reflector style. The only reason I would drop money on the projector style is to do a HID projectro retrofit and install a good set of aftermarket HID projects.

Well, it's on my to-do list, but only because I feel like my truck looks like a worktruck without the projectors.

The lighting is just fine as it is tbh.

GM wants like $650 EACH though for these things, and lowest I can find is about $550 each. So.. my truck may be 20 years old before I switch. Cos I'm not payin that.

Just got the email from GPC, that my lights have shipped, should be here Monday... Can't wait... Really never thought I would find a set for what I bought them for. ($500.00,for the pair, shipped) and they are pretty much brand new, taken off a truck with like 400 miles on it...

--- as for the Anzo U-Bar style lights.. I like them, but I think the OEM ones look better...

Yea, OEM is the best.. always. At least in my opinion.

when I was younger I thought oem was "junk" and would always put aftermarket stuff on, but now I think the opposite. The manufacturer does it right the first time. If I'm going to mod my truck its with GM parts (or repros, in the case of my rims.)

I watched a video yesterday on this. To swap headlights you need to strip grill, upper bumper valence, and open the hood. There's 4 screws holding on the headlights. After that, looks like they come right out.

This means (for me) ifwhen I do the swap, I will need to get my new bumper, fog lights, fog light bezels, wire harness, grill, and headlights before I put any of it on. I'm kinda surprised really. None of the previous gen trucks I've worked on (03-06, 88-98, in terms of headlight swaps in particular) have required the grill coming off. The turn signals on an 88-98 sure, but not the headlights. I thought this assembly was pretty odd. Seems like they could have used some sort of clips or tabs on the bottom of the lights and bolts to secure them at the top.

curious, thrasher when you get yours on can you do a comparison side by side of light output? I'm wondering if the light output is better/worse. I live in the middle of nowhere and there's no streetlights out here, so I use my brights a LOT. I want to make sure there's no reduction in light output on these back roads if I'm gonna swap.

I've actually considered using HIDs or something in the high beams to get more light. (sure, hids are illegal in non hid lenses but.. so is driving with your brights on with oncoming traffic.)

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
