What is Air Injection??

I can't really help you with what air injection is or does, but to tell if you have it, take a look at your exhaust manifolds.  If you see a connector with a hose coming off the front of the manifold, you have AIR.  Otherwise, you don't.

AIR is used to help kick off the catalytic converter(s) when they're cold.  It helps reduce emissions.  It uses an air pump to pull air from the intake track, and send air directly into the exhaust to help the catalytic converter start catalyzing faster.

EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculation system.  Thats the piping you see going from the exhaust into the back of the intake manifold.  When your at cruising speeds, exhaust is reentered into the combustion chamber because it helps reduce emissions and helps increase gas mileage (supposedly).  Its only on a cruising speeds, so it isn't a restriction at WOT (AIR is only on when the vehicle is warming up in open loop mode).

If you have smog inspections, you truck won't pass without it though.  So if your thinking about yanking it out, make sure you don't need it for a visual inspection.
