Hi I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd LQ9 with M70 trans. We had a blizzard the other day and I had to drive in 4wd everywhere. Everything was fine until the abs light came on.

Then the service 4wd light came on. The truck had no abs and no 4wd. It also made a metal on metal screeching noise that sounded like it came from the L/F wheel. Only for a few seconds and it was rotational like only happening as something spun around. Almost exactly like brakes that's were worn. But it went away.

I shut it off when I got home and then scanned it in the morning. I got a failure in the L/F speed sensor. No codes for anything else in any part of truck. I started it and 4wd worked. Abs light still on. I drove away in 2wd and it made the screeching noise again for a few seconds then went away.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

It also didn't make a difference in the noise if I was going 10mph or 30mph.

Truck hasn't done it since. Also no effect on noise if truck is cold or warm. Happened first time after being on for 5 hours. It was plenty hot. Then it happened this morning after only being on for 5 mins or so.
