A friend told me he got 6.0 heads on his 5.7 350. Now im thinking about doing it too. How much more horsepower can i get with 6.0 heads?

Your friend lied to you, unless he was running a 5.7 LS1. I will have to look but I would think that the 6.0 LS heads would have a larger combustion chamber than the 5.7 LS1 heads which would reduce compression and power

The 5.7 LS1 used 241 casting which is about a 69 cc chamber and the 317 casting for the 6.0 has 72 cc chambers

So like I said larger chamber = less compression/power

But I doubt the gen 3 and 4 heads mount to gen 1 and 2 engines. To start with gen 1 and 2 had coolant running in tne manifold which means there are water jackets in the heads for them. The 6.0 has a dry manifold. Also ports are different so he couldnt run the TBI with 6.0 heads

I have used LS1 5.7 heads on a 6.2 Block, regardless the OP is not going to make what he is asking for happen. I have done some pretty cool stuff swapping stock parts ( "stock" racecars) but this one isn't happening

Maybe he's talking about a 5.3,not a 5.7 :dunno:

317s wont mount to a 5.3, chamber is wider than the cylinder bore

Exactly what I am getting at. Thats why the 5.7 LS1 came up because my heads may fit on it but I think the chamber is too big and on an LS1 it will cause power loss
