GMC Sierra transfer case leak

My truck is 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 (obviously) with 125,000 miles on it. The transfer case has started to seep at the rear cover seam. NO, it's not the shaft seal, that is good and dry. I have the tools and the skills to drop that unit, but not the physical place to do it. I just don't have the room, etc., in my carport. I am considering doing a temporary external fix with a good sealer applied to the seam line just to get me by for a coupe of months. Has anyone done this and recommend a product? I have my doubts that the good old RTV silicone sealant will do the job.

it may work but ya have to have it real clean obviously ,,,,have ya checked with a shop how much labour to do this for you ? sometimes the convenience of having a shop do it verses the PITA is it for you to do it is worth it ,,,done the same day and away ya go ,,,,all sealed up properly...
