Ok heres the story.

I called the body shop today to get a update on my car. The guy told me that they still havent touched it  They have had the car 4 weeks to replace the roof, which I was told would take 30-40 hours, and they havent done a #### thing to it. I am going to call again monday and ask again. Maybe that will get the message across I want my car done. If they still havent touched it, I am going to ask when they plan on fixing it and when it will be done.

I guess its not a bad thing that they have it. Its out of my garage and Im not paying any storage fees for it being at their shop. If I am paying storage fees I dont know about it. But, If I am, I wont pay them for storage for these 4 weeks.

Plus, I bought a new truck last month. So, money has been pretty tight, with paying the taxes and all. So, it gives me more time to save some money to live on after I pay the shop for the work.

Im under a time crunch now, with me moving and all. I got a lot of work that needs to get done to the car before I move.

So, do you think I should wait it out, give them until the end of this month, or pull it out now?

Thats tough! I picked, "wait untill end of month", simply because you seem to not need the car right now.

BUT, i would call them on Monday, and tell them flat out that you want the car to be done by a certain date.  If they don't satisfy you, then i would serisouly consider pulling it out of the shop.

Be a gentlemen and ask the manager your questions. If he doesn't come up with a satisfying answer, pull it and move it somewhere else.

But, body shops work from insurance jobs, guaranteed money. Therefore, maybe if you ask for a partial payment to start, and maybe go as far as setting a progression payment plan, the both of you might work out an agreement.

Body shops hate to work on older cars, read rusty(?), but the carrot has got tobe put in front of the horse.

Heavy, I asked him the day before I dropped the car off if he wanted any money up front. He told me to just pay for everything when I picked the car up.

I guess I forgot to mention that the shop is split. There is the main shop and about three blocks away is the shop where my car is. The guy running the second shop is the one I was told to deal with on my car. But, I have dealt with him and dont really care for the way he has treated me when I call or stop by to see the progress. I'll go to Mike(the owner) and see what can be done. I dont want him to rush or piss of his guys. Because then they could screw my car up pretty bad.
