Can I Remove the Front Driveshaft Temporarily?

Its Friggin cold and I want to defer diagnosing a problem on my 2007 NBS 2500HD Silverado 4x4 , 6L90 Transmission, until it gets warmer, but still need to use it once a week for a 20 Km drive.

The problem; The DIC has given me a "Service 4 Wheel Drive" for several months, yesterday the lights on the 4 wheel drive rotary switch went out, it won't shift out of '4 HI' .The code given is U0102 - Lost communincation with Transfer Case.

My Question; Can I remove the front drive shaft and continue driving it?

Get the exact code read. you CAN take off the front drive shaft, but your xfer case will still be spinning around and that could be the problem. I'd get it looked at.
